Every piece is hand-curated by Toxome and made from cleaner, lower-toxin natural fibers. Browse by fiber to find clothing that is kinder to your skin and the planet.
the standard men's t-shirt is a cotton-poly blend, and the standard performance shirt is entirely plastic. both spend the whole day against skin. these tops are organic cotton, linen and hemp, each scored on the composition the brand publishes, so a shirt marketed as cotton has to actually be cotton to appear here.
Usually cotton, polyester and rayon, in roughly equal parts. It is sold on softness and drape, and it is around half plastic. A tri-blend tee will score well below a 100% cotton one for that reason.
Linen is the most breathable common shirting fiber and it dries quickly, which is why it is the traditional hot-weather choice. It wrinkles, which is the trade-off, and it softens considerably after the first several washes.
Toxome reads each garment's fiber composition and scores it on what that fiber does to your body, not on a brand's sustainability marketing. A higher score means a cleaner fiber. Composition is taken from what the brand publishes, so the score reflects the label, not our opinion of it.
