Every piece is hand-curated by Toxome and made from cleaner, lower-toxin natural fibers. Browse by fiber to find clothing that is kinder to your skin and the planet.
outerwear is the category where synthetics are hardest to avoid, because weather resistance is exactly what plastic does well. this page is short for that reason rather than for lack of searching. what is on it is real wool and organic cotton, scored on composition, not a polyester shell with a natural-sounding name.
The base cloth is cotton and the wax finish gives it water resistance without a plastic membrane, which is the traditional answer to the problem. It is heavier than a synthetic shell and needs re-waxing over time.
Recycled polyester keeps bottles out of landfill, which is a real environmental gain, but it is still polyester against your skin and still sheds microfibers. Toxome scores on what the fiber does to your body, so it rates the same as virgin polyester.
Toxome reads each garment's fiber composition and scores it on what that fiber does to your body, not on a brand's sustainability marketing. A higher score means a cleaner fiber. Composition is taken from what the brand publishes, so the score reflects the label, not our opinion of it.
