Every piece is hand-curated by Toxome and made from cleaner, lower-toxin natural fibers. Browse by fiber to find clothing that is kinder to your skin and the planet.
a bodysuit covers nearly all of a baby's skin, and newborn skin is thinner and more permeable than adult skin, so it absorbs more of what it touches. every onesie here is organic cotton, most of it GOTS certified, which covers the dyes and finishes as well as the fiber itself. no polyester, no flame-retardant treatments.
GOTS certifies the whole chain, not only that the cotton was grown organically. It restricts the dyes, finishes and processing chemicals that can be used, which is the part an organic cotton claim on its own does not cover. On a garment worn against newborn skin all day, that difference is the whole point.
Polyester does not breathe, so it traps heat and moisture against skin that is already prone to rashes and overheating. It also carries the finishes needed to make plastic behave like fabric. Natural fibers are the safer default for anything worn next to the skin at this age.
Toxome reads each garment's fiber composition and scores it on what that fiber does to your body, not on a brand's sustainability marketing. A higher score means a cleaner fiber. Composition is taken from what the brand publishes, so the score reflects the label, not our opinion of it.
