Materials

Made ethically and with love from 90% LENZING™️ Plant Viscose, 10% Spandex. Our signature fabric, LENZING™️ Viscose fibers, are at the heart of our most loved designs, offering a buttery soft feel. Crafted from certified renewable wood sources. Our pieces made with LENZING™ fibers are sourced from certified or controlled wood, and the yarn is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified. Sourcing: Responsibly sourced from certified renewable wood in sustainably managed forests across Austria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Canada, and locally in Indonesia. Washing Instructions: Cold machine wash on gentle cycle with natural detergent. Turn garment inside out and wash with like colours. Do not wash with towels. Tumble dry on low setting. Low iron. Do not dry clean. Avoid wringing or crushing. Hang in the shade to dry, away from sunlight. Consider using a GUPPYFRIEND to minimise microfibre pollution.

What the brand names mean

Trademarks on a label describe the fiber, not your exposure. Here is what each one is and what it does not cover. None of it moves the score.

Plant viscosescored as generic viscose

This is not a certification and it is not ECOVERO. Plant viscose is unregulated marketing, and all viscose is plant based, so the phrase tells you nothing about how it was made.

Some brands sell a cheap plant viscose line and a real ECOVERO line side by side. If the label does not spell out ECOVERO or TENCEL, we score it as plain viscose.

Reads cleaner than it is

what it is made of

The The Boxy Crop is 90% lenzing plant viscose, 10% spandex. Lenzing plant viscose is the umbrella name for wood dissolved and re-spun, viscose included; the factory decides how clean it is. Spandex is the stretch plastic blended into almost everything, identical to spandex. That composition is what Toxome scores, and it earns 55 out of 100 on the fiber scale, where 100 is cleanest.

FAQ

What is the The Boxy Crop made of?

It is 90% lenzing plant viscose, blended with 10% spandex.

Is lenzing plant viscose safe to wear?

Lenzing plant viscose is the umbrella name for wood dissolved and re-spun, viscose included; the factory decides how clean it is. Toxome rates every fiber on what it does to the body of the person wearing it, and publishes the reasoning rather than a badge. The score covers the fiber, not the dyes and finishes a mill adds later.

How does Toxome score clothing?

Toxome reads each garment's fiber composition and scores it on what that fiber does to your body, not on a brand's sustainability marketing. A higher score means a cleaner fiber. Composition is taken from what the brand publishes, so the score reflects the label rather than our opinion of it.
