Read the composition, not the product name. Real silk lists 'silk' with a percentage; imitations list polyester, nylon, or just the word 'satin', which describes a weave rather than a fiber. Toxome reads the label for you and scores the garment by what it is made of.
Silk absorbs moisture and moves heat away from the body, so it stays cool in warmth and warm in cold. Polyester satin does neither: it holds heat and sweat against the skin, which is why the same dress feels clammy after an hour.
