1% for the Planet logo

What Is 1% for the Planet?

1% for the Planet is a giving commitment. Member businesses give at least 1% of annual revenue to vetted impact partners and send proof each year to stay certified. The logo tells you where some of the company's money goes. It says nothing about how a product is made.

What 1% for the Planet checks

  • Contributions equal to at least 1% of annual revenue, not profit

  • Yearly proof of revenue and contribution receipts

What 1% for the Planet doesn’t cover

  • The product's materials, chemicals or factory conditions

1% for the Planet questions

Is it 1% of sales or 1% of profit?

Revenue. A full company member gives at least 1% of total annual revenue, whether or not it makes a profit.

Does the whole brand have to join?

Not always. A brand can join for one product line and give 1% of that line's revenue. Then the logo can only go on those products.

Does the logo mean the clothing is sustainable?

No. It confirms the giving commitment. The garment itself needs a material or chemical standard to tell you more.
